Brian Callahan said today that the Tennessee Titans starters will play a “series or two” on Saturday night in the preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers. Callahan has been saying all along that we are going to see the starters this preseason. That will be a big change from what the team did under Mike Vrabel where you hardly saw the starters at all.
It makes sense that the starters would play, especially in the first year when Callahan is trying to install his offense. There is no substitution for live(ish) game reps.
It will be good to see a little bit of what this offense is going to be. Of course, they are going to keep things pretty vanilla throughout the preseason to not tip their hand for when the regular season starts.
The Titans will take on the 49ers this Saturday at Nissan Stadium. The game kicks off at 6 PM central and can be seen locally on WKRN. You will have to sign up for NFL+ if you don’t live in the local area to watch the game live.
