Report: Titans believed trading Mike Vrabel “would take too long”

This is not a good look.

Syndication: The Tennessean George Walker IV / USA TODAY NETWORK

Diana Russini is reporting that Mike Vrabel never asked out with the Tennessee Titans and that the reason they fired him instead of trading him is because they believed it “would take too long” to trade him. If this is true, it is a terrible decision. Vrabel is reportedly covered all across the league. The Titans had an asset that people would be seeking and are in desperate need of draft capital but decided it wasn’t worth trying to get some draft picks for him?? Come on!

I really hope there is more to it than that. Old friend of the site, gramsey, said this morning that Vrabel might have told Robert Kraft not to trade for him because he was ultimately going to force his way out here. He wouldn’t want the team he is going to to lose any draft capital. I don’t know if that is true, but it sure does seem plausible at this point.

There is going to be so much that comes out on this over the next few days and weeks, but as I said above, I really hope that it wasn’t just impatience on AAS’s part that led to him being fired today instead of being traded in a few days or weeks.
