Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report is reporting that league sources have indicated that Mike Vrabel is interested in a return to the New England Patriots. This report should not come as a surprise with all of the stuff that has been out there for the last few weeks. It has been widely speculated that both Vrabel and the Patriots have an interest in one another.
A few things to keep in mind here: Vrabel is under contract with the Tennessee Titans. He cannot just up and leave. The only way he gets to the Patriots is by getting fired here or by trade. There is no way Amy Adams-Strunk is going to outright fire him when his market is robust.
Also, the Patriots still have a head coach currently in Bill Belichick - who confirmed this morning that he is still under contract with the team. So, as is the case here, he would have to be fired or traded for them to have an opening.
If there is movement with Belichick in New England, AAS should start the negotiations at two first-round picks and two second-round picks. She probably won’t get that, but she has the upper hand here if Robert Kraft really does covet Vrabel. There is no reason to let him go for cheap.
There is going to be a lot of speculation on this front over the next few days. We will keep you updated on all of it here.
