Titans to start coaching interviews this weekend with Brian Callahan and Antonio Pierce

Round one of the interviews for the Tennessee Titans head coaching job starts this weekend

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly interviewing Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan today and Antonio Pierce this weekend for their vacant head coaching position. They are free to start interviewing any guys who aren’t on playoff teams right now. The guys that are with playoff teams, which is quite a few guys on the list, will have to wait until their team is eliminated or after the divisional round is completed next weekend.

I did a quick reset of where the coaching search is currently on this morning’s Home Run Throwback podcast (listen here). You can also track all of the moves here.

The Titans are obviously casting a wide net with this search. They did not do that when they hired Mike Mularkey or Mike Vrabel. Neither of those hires was a bad call at the time, but getting a bigger sample of the guys that are out there is a good idea - especially as they move to a new model of more collaboration between the head coach, the general manager, and the analytics staff.

Here is the list of guys who the Titans have reportedly requested to interview so far:

Bengals OC Brian Callahan

Detroit Lions DC Aaron Glenn

Las Vegas interim coach Antonio Pierce

Dallas Cowboys DC Dan Quinn

New York Giants OC Mike Kafka

Lions OC Ben Johnson

Baltimore Ravens DC Mike Macdonald

Houston Texans OC Bobby Slowik

Philadelphia Eagles OC Brian Johnson
