The Tennessee Titans return from their bye this week with a home game against the Atlanta Falcons. We don’t know yet who will be starting at quarterback for the Titans, but we do know that it will be a young guy who will need help from the guys around him. One of the guys who was supposed to really help the quarterback this year is Treylon Burks but through the Titans' first six games of the season, Burks has just 6 catches for 99 yards.
Of course, part of the reason for that is he has missed the past three games with a knee injury. Injuries have been a big issue for Burks so far in his career. He missed six games last season with injuries as well. It is hard to be productive in street clothes.
Mike Vrabel said today that Burks practiced in full last week during the bye. Now is the time for him to step up and prove that he can be the WR1 the Titans thought they were getting when they drafted him. To be fair to him, he seemed to be trending that way before he suffered the knee injury in the joint practices against the Minnesota Vikings.
This team is at a crossroads. A win on Sunday could get them back to feeling like they still have some life this season. A loss could put them into full rebuild mode. Either way, they need Burks to step up the rest of the year and prove that he is a piece they can build around for the future.
