Thoughts from Mike Vrabel’s Titans training camp opening press conference

The first seven-ish minutes of the press conference were about COVID vaccines. Mike Vrabel, unsurprisingly, just said they would continue to educate the players on the vaccine and on the different protocols for vaccinated players vs. unvaccinated players. He said he will be excited when he can talk about football and not that stuff. You and me both, Mike.

Vrabel highlighted 3 guys - Anthony Firkser, Teair Tart and Kristian Fulton - as guys who came in looking different than they did when he saw them last. That’s good news because all three of those guys have an opportunity to step into a much bigger role with the team this year.

When asked about the kicking situation, Vrabel said they were excited about Tucker McCann last year in camp before he got hurt. He was also asked about Stephen Gostkowski being an option down the road and he said something along the lines of everyone being an option until they retire. I expect Gostkowski to be the kicker for this team week 1.

Taylor Lewan and Rodger Saffold have been in early working with 2nd-round pick Dillon Radunz. Had Radunz already put in more work than Isaiah Wilson did last year? Hard to say, but I’m going to go with yes.

He also mentioned that guys on PUP/NFI, namely Bud Dupree and Caleb Farley are in the building, in meetings, and rehabbing.

The team will be on the field for the first time tomorrow. FOOTBALL IS BACK, BABY!
