Let’s be honest. During the 2020 offseason, there were a ton of fans around here that were hoping that Tom Brady’s free agency was going to end with him replacing Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee. The Titans were never really interested, and general manager Jon Robinson decided to stick with Tannehill. It was the right decision, despite the fact that Brady would go on to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and win the Super Bowl in 2021. While Brady never commented on the possibility of reuniting with Robinson and Mike Vrabel in Tennessee, he might have taken a shot at Tannehill and the franchise in an episode of The Shop on HBO.
A trailer for the show featured a line from Brady’s appearance on an upcoming episode. It’s a short clip without context, but Brady says, “one of the teams, they weren’t interested at the very end, I was thinking, ‘you’re sticking with that mother-‘” and the clip cuts away to laughter from the other guests on the show.
Since the clip went viral, there’s been a ton of chatter regarding who Brady could be talking about. The Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers were obvious candidates, but one reporter (Benjamin Allbright) is claiming that Tannehill is actually the player Brady is referring too.

Again, the clip is short and lacking context, but Allbright is really doubling down on this being about Tannehill.
If this is about Tannehill and Brady holds animosity towards Tennessee, time has revealed it to be unfounded. Tannehill had a terrific season in 2020. He led the Titans to an 11-5 record and division title while throwing for a franchise-record 33 touchdowns. Brady of course won the Super Bowl, but we all know that QB play wasn’t the reason the Titans fell short of their goal.
We want to hear from you. Could Brady be talking about Tannehill and the Titans? Benjamin Allbright sure thinks so. Leave your opinion in the comments.
