You already know what I think the Titans' two biggest priorities this offseason are pass rush and pass rush. They absolutely need to sign a big-name free agent AND draft a guy in the first round. I will not accept anything else as a successful offseason.
Well Jeremy Fowler over at ESPN has listed his top 50 NFL free agents* and their best fit around the league. He has the Titans as the best fit for Bud Dupree. His comments:
The Titans are desperate for pass-rush help, and Dupree won’t fall flat like Jadeveon Clowney and Vic Beasley did there. Plus, Tennessee might get a slight discount (key word: slight) with Dupree recovering from a torn ACL that could hamper his early-season production. Dupree proved to be a beast the past two years. The Steelers want to keep him but are $33 million over the cap.
There is a good chance that Dupree hits the market because of the Steelers’ cap situation. Now they will create some cap room with the restructure of Ben Roethlisberger’s contract, but there are still some pieces that are going to have to shake out there. We should all be praying that Dupree is one of those pieces.
*Usual caveat about guys actually reaching the market applies here
