Titans Sign DB Maurice Smith to Futures Contract

The Titans continue to tinker with their roster with the signing of defensive back Maurice Smith to a futures contract.

Smith spent time on the team’s practice squad during the 2020 season. Both the front office and coaching staff are very familiar with him. Perhaps they saw something worth developing.

Smith has spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Washington Football Team since entering the NFL in 2017. He’s played in 15 career games, and has six career tackles. After transferring from Alabama to Georgia, Smith recorded 50 tackles, three passes defended, two interceptions and two forced fumbles in his final season of college football.

Futures contract go into effect on the first day of the new league year. Since there are no practice squads during the offseason, teams are allowed to sign players for the offseason as they prepare for the next season.
