While we continue to monitor the Arthur Smith situation, he’s not the only member of the Titans organization that is being vetted for another job.
Albert Breer of The MMBQ and NBC Sports Boston is reporting that the Panthers have requested permission to interview The Titans’ Director of Player Personnel Monti Ossenfort for their vacant GM job:

The Panthers are an interesting job. They appear to have a good head coach in Matt Rhule. They have a franchise player in Christian McCaffrey. They also own the 8th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft. On the downside, they don’t have a franchise QB on their roster.
One other thing to note here: General managers typically like to hire their own head coach. You’re unlikely to get that opportunity in Carolina, where Rhule is clearly their guy. How much does that matter to Ossenfort? We may find out.
The Titans have a really strong front office. They’ve improved their image around the league with five winning seasons in a row. It’s no surprise that someone like Ossenfort is getting interest.
