Today is an exciting day because the Titans hit the field at Saint Thomas Sports Park on Friday for the first practice in pads of training camp. Today’s practice was also open to the media, so the timeline is full of beautiful content.
Although the practice isn’t intended to feature much contact, there were still some exciting moments on the field. Players are usually excited to get in some contact this time of year, and we saw some feisty moments on the field.
Turron Davenport, who is ESPN’s NFL Nation reporter covering the Titans took one of the more exciting videos of the day. In one video, he was able to capture some exciting reps from rookie Isaiah Wilson and second-year pro Jeffery Simmons.
On the first rep, Wilson can be seen making light work of defensive linemen Joey Ivie. It seems like Wilson is coming along nicely. On the second rep, Simmons absolutely obliterates second-year offensive linemen Nate Davis.
Wilson and Simmons should be two of the more exciting Titans players to follow closely throughout training camp. Wilson is course trying to stake his claim to the starting job at right tackle, a task that comes with stiff competition in the form of Dennis Kelly.
Simmons on the other hand, will undoubtedly be a key contributor for the Titans this season. Nobody is coming for his job, and he should be extremely productive in the three-technique role this season.
In other news, Corey Davis came off the PUP this morning and was in pads for today’s practice.
Ryan Tannehill was not spotted at today’s practice, but Mike Vrabel made it sound like he simply had the day off and will return to practice tomorrow.
