NFL and NFLPA agree to daily COVID testing

It has been announced today that the NFL and NFLPA have agreed to daily testing for the first two weeks of training camp. The testing will likely trail off from there if the rates are where everyone wants them to be:

This is important on a couple of fronts:

  1. It makes it more likely that they aren’t heading towards a nasty negotiation like we saw with the MLB owners and players. I didn’t really expect it to be like that, but every piece of positive news that we get keeps it moving in the right direction.
  2. This most likely means there won’t be a delay in the Titans reporting for camp. We all want everyone to be safe, but man we could all use the distraction of sports in our lives right now.

Now we will just keep an eye out for what happens with the preseason. My guess is that we don’t end up seeing any preseason games, but those decisions haven’t been made officially to this point.
