There was some unrest on Friday following the Titans pick of Isaiah Wilson in the first round. The Titans clearly had a huge need at corner. Why would they take a luxury pick like an offensive tackle? Well, we can’t know exactly what Jon Robinson’s thought process was, or how lucky he ended up getting, but he walked away from the 2nd round with a guy who has a real chance to be a great corner in Kristian Fulton.
The pick was so good, in fact, that Joe Marino of The Draft Network called it one of the 5 steals of day 2 of the NFL Draft. Before A.J. Brown last year the 2nd round had been a bit of a black hole for the Titans with guys like Bishop Sankey, Justin Hunter, DGB and Kevin Dodd. Here’s to hoping that Fulton is just another step in making those days a distant memory.
Here is part Marino’s thoughts on the pick:
Fulton is a true technician with terrific coverage instincts, ball skills and spatial awareness. He never panics, trusts his technique and does his job. Fulton has the ability to thrive in zone and press coverage right away.
