2020 NFL Draft: Mel Kiper calls the Isaiah Wilson pick a head scratcher

Mel Kiper posted his “winners and head-scratchers” from round 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft. He was not a fan of the Isaiah Wilson pick for the Titans. That is probably because he has mocked Yetur Gross-Matos to the Titans from day 1. He does rightfully point out there need for help rushing the passer.

HOWEVA, what The Hair doesn’t know is that Jadeveon Clowney will be joining the Titans shortly after the draft...right?...at least that is what I keep telling myself.

In all seriousness, I think the Titans looked at the EDGE rushers on the board and didn’t think they were an upgrade over the guys they currently have. The biggest beef I have with the pick is that Jeff Gladney was still on the board. Corner was the biggest need for this team coming in and it remains that after night one.

Here are Kiper’s comments:

That makes two Georgia offensive tackles in Round 1 here, and there has been some buzz around Wilson over the last few weeks. At 6-foot-6, 350 pounds, Wilson is massive, but he’s going to need some time to clean up his technique before he can start in the NFL. I actually thought he could have been a top-15 pick if he had returned to school for another year and entered the 2021 draft. There is some upside with Wilson, who started at right tackle over the last two seasons, but he’s raw. Yes, Tennessee has a hole at right tackle with Jack Conklin gone, but I don’t see Wilson as an immediate starter.

My thoughts on the pick in podcast form:
