Todd McShay has released a new mock draft this morning. He went 2 rounds in this one. This is a bit off the subject, but I am really interested to see what the draft TV coverage is going to be like. We know that the NFL is going forward with the original April 23-25 draft date. We also know that the recommendations for social distancing will still be in place at that point. I guess that means ESPN and the NFL Network will have a lot of split screen coverage with each person being in his or her home. That’s really going to be something.
McShay hits 2 of the Titans current 3 biggest needs here with an EDGE guy and a right tackle. As it stands right now, the Titans also really need a corner, but I am good with them taking the best available player with the picks they have. It looks like that is what McShay did for them here when he took Yetur Gross-Matos, EDGE, Penn State in the first and Isaiah Wilson, OT, Georgia in the 2nd.
Here are his comments on this picks:
Gross-Matos:
Vic Beasley Jr. still has upside — he does have a 15.5-sack season — but regardless, the Titans will be seeking edge rushing in the draft. Gross-Matos is the top pass-rusher still on the board, and while he might need time to develop, he possesses above-average pass-rush talent, the ability to set the edge against the run and the speed to chase players down in pursuit.
Wilson:
The top-end tackle resources have dried up by this point, but Wilson would lessen the loss of Jack Conklin a bit. He has a massive 6-foot-7, 350-pound frame.
Would you be happy with this draft for the Titans?
