News and notes from Thursday’s practice report

NFL: Detroit Lions at Tennessee Titans Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Titans practiced on Thursday and one key player returned while several others continued to sit out.

Most notably, Adoree Jackson returned to practice after sitting out Wednesday’s session. Some fans were in full blown crisis mode while others remained calm. Jackson returning to the field on Thursday is a great sign and likely proves that yesterday’s absence was nothing more than a maintenance day. Limiting Jackson’s practice reps makes a lot of sense considering he just played his first game of the season. They really eased him into the lineup last Sunday. Hopefully he’s ready for a heavier workload against the Packers and their high octane offense this Sunday night.

Jeffery Simmons and Dennis Kelly sat out their second straight practice. They were both listed on yesterday’s injury report with “knee” designations. We expect to see the same injuries listed for both players when the report comes out later today. There’s no reason to panic yet. We haven’t received any worrying reports of an injury for either player, and Vrabel likes to use both Wednesday and Thursday as days off for some of his better players.

A.J. Brown and Jonnu Smith were also absent from Thursday’s practice. Both players practiced yesterday.
