Mel Kiper 2020 NFL mock draft

NCAA Football: Purdue at Penn State John Jones-USA TODAY Sports

It is officially mock draft season! I know so many of you, especially gramsey are really excited about this. The good news is that we didn’t have to start doing this until late January this year. That was especially nice considering there was a point in October where I thought we were going to be in draft season already.

Mel Kiper of ESPN has released his first mock draft of the 2020 draft season (In$ider). He has the Titans taking Yetur Gross-Matos with the 29th pick. This pick has been popular in early mocks with good reason. The biggest need the Titans had throughout the 2019 season was a guy who could consistently get pressure off the EDGE. Harold Landry, Derek Roberson and Kamalei Correa were all able to do it in spurts, but no one was ever a consistent force.

Here is what Kiper had to say about the pick:

The Titans are another team with a few big pending free agents, and their list includes quarterbacks Ryan Tannehill and Marcus Mariota, running back Derrick Henry, cornerback Logan Ryan and offensive tackle Jack Conklin. But they also have some uncertainty at edge rusher, with Kamalei Correa, who had five sacks, a free agent, and soon-to-be 38-year-old Cameron Wake coming back from a serious injury. Gross-Matos is a pick to help the competition on the other side of Harold Landry, who came into his own this season. Gross-Matos has long arms on his 6-foot-5 frame, and he is stellar against the run. He’s not a quick-twitch pass-rusher like Young or Chaisson, but he’s a solid player and hard worker. General manager Jon Robinson has an eye for talent, and it’s a huge offseason for Tennessee.

What are your thoughts on the pick, and what would you list as the Titans biggest draft needs at this point?
