Jim Wyatt just tweeted that CBS will be sending their “A Team” to Cleveland to call the Titans week 1 game against the Browns. The “A Team” of Jim Nantz, Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson call CBS’s marquee game every week. Romo has been really awesome in the booth. It will be fun to hear him call a Titans game.
I could pretend that CBS assigned this crew to the Titans game because everyone is expecting to them to go from good to great this season, but everyone knows they got this game because of the Browns. They have been one of the biggest stories this offseason with the trade for Odell Beckham Jr., the hiring of Freddie Kitchens and the emergence of Baker Mayfield last season.
Even with that being the case, this gives the Titans to put themselves on the national map early in the 2019 season if they can go up there and get a big win. This game will be much more widely broadcast than the majority of their games.
