One aspect that defined the 2018 Titans season was the team’s defense. Under Mike Vrabel the team finished third in points allowed, sixth in passing yards given up, and third in passing touchdowns allowed. They weren’t at the level of a team like the Bears or Ravens but for what was expected for them the defense had a good year.
To at least a certain degree, the team has addressed the pass rush, linebacking corps, and secondary in the current offseason. Notable additions include former Dolphins pass rusher Cameron Wake, Clemson defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, and Iowa safety Armani Hooker.
There’s a solid batch of defensive talent on the Titans roster, which brings me to today’s question: Who’s your favorite defensive player? It’s hard to pick my favorite since I’ve covered the Titans for over a year. Guys that standout include Jurrell Casey, Harold Landry, Kevin Byard, Jayon Brown, and Rashaan Evans.
I’d probably have to go with Harold Landry for the time being. His bend is so much fun to watch and I feel like he’s going to be a damn good pass rusher for a long time. I’m still having trouble processing why he fell to the second round, as he was a first round talent in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Another option is Jurrell Casey. He’s an extremely gifted, athletic interior linemen that offers high quality as both a pass rusher and a run stopper. He’s been voted to four consecutive Pro Bowls as well, so he’s been recognized as one of the top defensive tackles in the league.
With that out of the way, let’s hear your voices, Titans fans. Describe or name your favorite Titans defender in the comment section below!
