Draft Do-Over: What if the Titans didn’t take Kevin Dodd?

NFL: AFC Championship Game-New England Patriots at Kansas City Chiefs Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The second round has mostly been a wasteland for the Titans. Here are the Titans 2nd round picks in the last 10 drafts:

2018- Harold Landry

2017- No pick

2016- Kevin Dodd, Austin Johnson, Derrick Henry

2015- Dorial Green-Beckham

2014- Bishop Sankey

2013- Justin Hunter

2012- Zach Brown

2011- Akeem Ayers

2010- No pick

2009- Sen’Derrick Marks

The jury is still out on Harold Landry, who showed some excellent flashes in his rookie season, and we now have really high hopes for Derrick Henry, but the rest of that list is largely brutal.

With all of that being said, the writers over at ESPN did a draft re-do for the 2016 NFL Draft. They re-did one pick for each team with the rules outlined here. Turron Davenport, the excellent Titans reporter at ESPN, made the re-pick here.

His selection, instead of Kevin Dodd, was Chris Jones out of Mississippi State who was picked by the Chiefs with the 37th pick. It is pretty safe to say that Jones, who had 15.5(!) sacks last season, would have been a much better pick for the Titans.
