All this feels familiar, doesn’t it?
The Titans once again sit in a win-and-in situation in week 17, but this time they’ll have their starting quarterback healthy and ready to go.
Another factor? The Texans are probably going to be resting starters — at least that’s what Vegas is thinking. Tennessee opened as a -3.5 favorite upon opening on Sunday night. That number has been bet all the way up to -6 as of Saturday morning. The total sits at 44.5.
So while Bill O’Brien has played coy all week, the wiseguys in the desert are calling his bluff.
Will Fuller has already been ruled out. DeAndre Hopkins, Kenny Stills, Deshaun Watson, Bradley Roby and Laremy Tunsil are each listed as questionable.
Meanwhile, the Titans should Jeffery Simmons and Derrick Henry back. Corey Davis is tracking to play after suffering a concussion last week. Tennessee will be back to nearly full strength, just missing Adoree’ Jackson in the secondary.
The situation to watch here is the Chiefs game at noon. Kansas City can lock Houston into the four seed with a win, making the Texans’ Sunday result meaningless. That would offer the Texans a chance to get that banged up core healthy ahead of wildcard weekend. If the Chiefs lose, then things get interesting.
But, for what it’s worth, the Chargers have been dreadful this year. The Chiefs are currently nine point favorites in that one.
So we’ve got an interesting situation here that will take some monitoring all the way up until a 3:25 p.m. kickoff. With all of that said, are you comfortable taking the Titans -6 here?
