Yesterday’s loss was tough. There is no doubt about it. The Titans are now forced to scoreboard watch for the next 2 weeks. But lost in all of that was an amazing performance by Jonnu Smith.
The first play that stood out didn’t end up making a difference on the scoreboard. It was the play where he chased down Whitney Mercilus after the fluke interception on the goal line.
Look how far @Easymoney_81 ran to track down Whitney Mercilus on Sunday - 96.3 yards per @NextGenStats.

And hear why the @Titans TE says he did it.

The Texans ended up getting a touchdown there anyway, but that effort from Jonnu is something that resonates to the rest of team. It also shows just how freakishly athletic he is.
Later in the game we saw Jonnu Smith the tailback.
Jonnu Smith is a tight end.

And he’s as fast as any RB out there. @Easymoney_81 #Titans #HOUvsTEN

The Titans lined him up in the backfield and pitched him the ball. He broke two tackles and ran for 57 yards...again showing his athleticism.
Oh yeah, and he added 5 catches for 60 yards on 5 targets playing the position he actually plays. The Titans are really just scratching the surface of all the things that Smith can do in this offense. I cannot wait to see how he can continue to develop now that they have a competent quarterback and a threat at receiver on the outside.
Aside: How good is AJ Brown??
