Titans place Malcolm Butler on IR; Re-sign Tye Smith

The Titans announced this afternoon that they have placed Malcolm Butler on IR with a wrist injury suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers. This ends Butler’s season. He has been up and down during his time with the Titans, but has been pretty good for the most part.

They also announced that they re-signed Tye Smith to the roster to take Butler’s place. Smith has played some significant snaps for this team in the past. He is a solid guy to have for depth at corner.

As if it wasn’t hard enough to match up with the receivers for the Chiefs, the Titans will now have to do it without one of their best corners. You will most likely see LeShaun Sims take over on the outside when they go to nickel playing opposite of Adoree Jackson with Logan Ryan in the slot. Sims has played well at times but struggled when filling in for Adoree against the Buccaneers.
