T.Y. Hilton suffered a calf injury in practice this week that is going to have him sidelined for 3-4 weeks according to Frank Reich. Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk notes that the Colts are 0-5 without Hilton in the lineup over the last 8 seasons. This is a really tough blow for their offense.
How tough of a blow is it? Well according to Player Profiler Hilton has played 85.5% of the Colts snaps on offense this season and has a 29.6% target share. They are currently left with Zach Pascal and Deon Cain as their top receivers. That might not have been that big of a deal with Andrew Luck under center. It’s a whole different deal with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback.
The Titans don’t play the Colts again until December 1st. That is 4 weeks from now, so there is a good chance that Hilton will be back for that game. The hope here is that they struggle to win the games they have in the mean time and the Titans can make up some ground on them.
