O.J. Howard won’t play against the Titans

Bruce Arians announced today that O.J. Howard will not play against the Titans. Howard had popped up on the injury report with a hamstring injury yesterday. He did not practice again today.

This sounds like big news, but it may not be when you look at the way that Howard has been used this year. Through 5 games Howard has just 18 catches for 176 yards and no touchdowns. Those numbers are really weak for a guy with Howard’s talent. Cameron Brate will presumably take on a larger role with Howard out.

We will get the official injury report later today. The good news for the Titans is that most guys tend to be trending in the right direction. Jayon Brown was a full participant yesterday after missing last week. Wesley Woodyard has played really well in Brown’s absence, coming up with the huge play on the goal line last week, but Brown gives Dean Peas and the Titans a lot more versatility.
