Report: Ryan Tannehill will start for the Titans on Sunday

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Denver Broncos Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

[UPDATE]- I recorded a new MCM Radio with my thoughts on the end of the Marcus Mariota era. Listen here.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that Ryan Tannehill will start for the Titans on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers:

This is the right move for the Titans. I hate that things didn’t work out here for Marcus Mariota. He looked like he was on his way to being a franchise quarterback before he broke his leg back in 2016. Mariota never looked the same after that injury.

Tannehill is not going to come in here and light the world on fire, but that isn’t what the Titans need right now. They have a defense that has only allowed more than 20 points once this season. All they need from the quarterback position is someone who will hit the easy throws and keep the chains moving. Tannehill is the better option for that at this point.

It will be interesting to see what the players say tomorrow when they talk to the media.

This all the more points to the fact that the Titans will be drafting a QB in the 2020 draft. Mike did a really nice job breaking down those options here.
