Titans hire Frank Piraino as strength coach

NFL: Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Titans have announced the hiring of Frank Piraino as their new strength and conditioning coach. Piraino just finished up his 6th season at Boston College. Jim Wyatt broke down Piraino’s employment history here. Mike Vrabel’s son, Tyler, just finished his freshman football season at Boston College. That could be the tie to Vrabel. Piraino also worked under Urban Meyer at Florida. Vrabel coached with Meyer at Ohio State.

It is funny to me how many people have pointed to the strength and conditioning coach as the reason the Titans had so many injuries last year. There can be truth to that at times, but the Titans really just ran unlucky in the injury department last year.

This will be the first time since the Titans have been here that the strength department isn’t run by Steve Waterson or one of his guys (which Tom Kanavy was who the Titans fired last week).
