Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Titans have hired Todd Downing to be their tight ends coach:
#Vikings TE coach Todd Downing is headed to the #Titans to take over as TE coach in Tennessee, source said. The former #Raiders OC will also lend his experience coordinating an offense to assist new OC Arthur Smith.

Downing is only 38 years old, but has been in the NFL forever. He started back in 2001 with the Minnesota Vikings and has bounced around from there. As Rapoport mentioned, he was the Raiders offensive coordinator in 2017 under Jack Del Rio. That team beat the Titans week 1 in Nashville. Downing was the QB coach in Oakland the 2 years before that, so he probably had a pretty big hand in the early development of Derek Carr. That might not seem like a positive thing now, but Carr was playing really well at that time.
This seems like a pretty good add to the coaching staff. This is a guy that has worked his way up through NFL organizations and has had some success. You can never have too many of those guys on your staff.
