Reports: Taylor Lewan will report to training camp today; contract talks making “progress”

More good news for the Titans as camp gets set to start on Thursday.

Paul Kuharsky is reporting this morning that Titans Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan will report to training camp on time today.

Contract negotiations between the team and Lewan have picked up over the last couple days and Ian Rapoport is reporting that the two sides are making progress.

This is obviously great news for the team as camp gets set to open. Lewan is arguably the best player on the entire offense and has grown in to a team leader as well. The offense now avoids the ugly possibility of starting camp without both of their excellent starting tackles.

It is sounding more and more like a deal will get done sooner rather than later. Something around 5 years at $16-17M per year with about $40-45M guaranteed sounds about right to me, but hopefully we will get that news soon.

Jon Robinson is doing a nice job of eliminating potential distractions heading in to camp and should be rewarded with a focused football team.
