ESPN recently polled their “insiders” about the best players under the age of 25 in the NFL. Offensive tackle Jack Conklin was the Titans lone selection. Here were their comments on Conklin:
While some still believe that the value of a left tackle surpasses that of a right tackle, Conklin’s immediate emergence on the right side for Tennessee proves it’s a position of massive influence. Powerful and technically sound, the 23-year-old is currently recovering from a knee injury.
We are all excited about the Titans’ bookend tackles in Conklin in Taylor Lewan. Of course there is a chance that neither Conklin, because of the ACL injury in the playoff loss to the Patriots, or Lewan, because of his contract situation, are on the field when the Titans open camp next week. It’s not as easy to get fired up for Dennis Kelly and John Theus out there.
Here’s to hoping Conklin is ahead of schedule and we get an announcement about a new contract for Lewan very soon!
