Locked on Titans: Taking a look back at Chris Johnson

Johnson was electrifying at his peak, but he left us wanting more.

With free agency and the NFL Draft behind us, we wanted to take some time to go back and revisit the careers of some former Titans. We plan on hitting a handful of these, but today we began with Chris Johnson.

The former first round pick came onto the scene as a part of the 2008 Titans — the best Titans team that we’ve seen since the early 2000s. Johnson was a key cog in that offense, running for over 1,200 yards as a rookie. Of course, just one season after, Johnson would rush for over 2,000 yards and rack up 2,500 yards from scrimmage.

After that, Johnson’s career started to decline. The Titans had no choice but to extend him in 2011. But Johnson never returned to form, due to a few different reasons. We’ll dive into those here and reflect on the legacy that he leaves behind in Nashville.
