Jon Ledyard of NDT Scouting and Locked on Draft joined us earlier this week on Locked on Titans to talk about the EDGE prospects in the draft (listen here). Now he has released his prospects who have a first round grade- he has 19 players on his list.
That number seems low, but it isn’t necessarily bad for the Titans. First off, you have to look at the fact that Ledyard only has 2 quarterbacks on his list, Josh Rosen and Baker Mayfield. We know that 4 quarterbacks will be picked before the Titans are on the clock. That pushes 2 players further down the board.
The list also features 2 guards and 1 offensive tackle. The Titans aren’t taking an OT early in this draft, and while they could upgrade at guard, they aren’t doing it on day 1 of the draft. If those 3 players get picked in the top 24 it pushes more good players down the board.
The list is also heavy on defensive players with 3 EDGE rushers, 3 safeties, 2 corners, 1 defensive tackle and 1 inside linebacker (how he doesn’t have Rashaan Evans on the list is beyond me...).
All of that to say, there is a good chance the Titans are in position to grab one of those defensive players when they are on the clock at 25.
