The Titans have announced this morning that they are parting ways with QB Alex Tanney, RB Khalfani Muhammad and DL Johnny Maxey. You will see a lot of teams around the league making similar moves this week because they feel they have upgraded with players they took in the draft or signed right after. The Titans are obviously no exception.
Tanney’s release was inevitable after he was unable to beat out Matt Cassel in training camp last year. The Titans wanted him to be the #2 last year. Those hopes were dashed when he was terrible in the preseason.
Muhammad was a 7th round pick in 2017. The Titans hoped he would be able to bring the change of pace they needed behind DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry. He just didn’t show them anything on offense or special teams last season.
Maxey was on the practice squad for part of the 2017 season.
