Quinton Spain signs 1-year tender

The competition at left guard is going to be fun to watch.

NFL: Chicago Bears at Tennessee Titans Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Quinton Spain has signed his 1-year tender according to his agent:

We talked a lot about Spain leading up to free agency. He was a restricted free agent, and the Titans tendered him at the lowest possible level. They would have had the opportunity to match any offer Spain was given by another team and would not have received any compensation had they let him go to that team. Obviously those offers did not come.

The Titans have added Xavier Su’a-Filo and Kevin Pamphile in free agency. Those guys figure to be competition for Spain. The Titans will also probably add an interior offensive lineman in the draft as well.

Right now it doesn’t look like there will be many position battles in camp, but left guard is going to be an interesting one to watch. Spain has been good, but he doesn’t look like a fit for the a zone blocking scheme. Competition is always a good thing.
