Mel Kiper’s favorite prospect at each position in the 2018 NFL Draft

Who does The Hair like that could be on the Titans’ radar?

NCAA Football: Cotton Bowl-Ohio State vs Southern California Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Mel Kiper has put out a list (In$sider) of his favorite prospect at every position. Kiper lays out the criteria for this list as players that he is higher on than other “draft guys” and guys that he just likes watching play the game. There are some interesting guys on his list when it comes to positions of need for the Titans.

The first is Uchenna Nwosu, EDGE, USC. Kiper projects him as a second or third round pick, so he coulld be a target for the Titans if they go another direction in the first round (or they could draft a pass rusher in each of the first two rounds, which may seem crazy on the surface but actually makes a lot of sense when you have zero depth at the position and 2 guys in Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan who are on the downside of their respective careers and in the last year of their respective contracts). Here is what Kiper had to say about Nwosu:

Nwosu might be the best pure pass-rusher available when Round 2 begins on Friday night. He is just a thorn in the side of offensive tackles (and quarterbacks). Here he is blitzing up the middle in the Cotton Bowl and taking down Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett before Barrett can even get to his first read. Nwosu had two sacks that night and eight total in his final six games. He was unblockable down the stretch of the season.

At safety Kiper listed Justin Reid from Stanford as his favorite and projects him to go in the late first round or early second round. Terry and I have a running joke on Locked on Titans (listen to last night’s episode with Jonathan Hutton here) about how I have safety as a pretty big need for the Titans. They obviously have Kevin “Just a Fan” Byard and Johnathan Cyprien as the starters, but Cyprien isn’t that good, and they have absolutely nothing behind those guys. I wouldn’t be shocked to see them pick a safety in the first if the pass rushers are gone.
