I was worried that the Jaguars were going to sign Kirk Cousins and become a legitimate contender, but no fear, they have given Blake Bortles a contract extension:
Jaguars are giving QB Blake Bortles a new three-year, $54 million deal, worth up to $66.5M with incentives, that includes $26.5M guaranteed, tying him to Jacksonville through the 2020 season, per source.

Jacksonville out of QB market.
While I wish they would have tied more money up in Bortles, the most important part is that last sentence, the Jaguars are out of the quarterback market. Bortles is their quarterback for the near future.
I know the Jaguars made it to the AFC Championship game, but they were never going to win that game with Bortles under center. They better hope their defense consistently plays as well as it did last season. That seems like a pretty tall order considering teams usually don’t stay that good for that long.
But hey, congrats to Blake for getting that money. Here’s to hoping he continues to struggle against the Titans for the next three years and then gets another contract extension with the Jaguars.
