Derrick Henry’s and Losers from Titans 30, Jaguars 9

The Titans extended their winning streak over the Jaguars to four straight on Thursday night in impressive fashion, beating their AFC South rivals 30-9 to advance to 7-6 on the season. Tennessee has now outscored Jacksonville 91-41 over the last two seasons. With that, let’s get to winners and losers.

Winners

Derrick Henry

Henry was so dominant that this almost needs to be a category to itself. The big back out of Alabama rumbled for 238 yards — a franchise record — on 17 carries and hit the endzone four times in one of the most impressive running back performances you’ll ever see. He also tied the NFL record for longest run at 99 yards on a ridiculous play that saw him swat away at least three Jaguars defenders on the way to the endzone.

Henry was in dominant form from the start against his hometown team and there should be no doubt who the RB1 for the Titans is moving forward. The “Henry! Henry! Henry!” chants rang down from the crowd in the second half, stirring the spirit of Eddie George’s dominant days in the Titans backfield. It was a special night for Henry.

Quinton Spain

I don’t actually know how well Spain played in this one (it’s hard to tell too much watching it live), but he retained his job as starting left guard and managed to help lead the way for 264 yards rushing and just one sack for zero yards lost during the game. That almost makes this a good game for him by default.

Jurrell Casey

The Titans best defender was at it again today, tallying 6 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 1 tackle for loss during the game. The 1.5 sacks bring him to 7 total on the season which ties for the second highest mark of his career. Casey is just an animal on the inside of that defense.

Rashaan Evans

Evans is officially only credited with 5 tackles during the game, but he was in on a sack of Kessler at one point and was a key part of the big 4th down stop of Leonard Fournette. Evans continues to be a major problem for opposing offenses.

Anthony Firkser

I know... I talk about Firkser a lot, but that’s just because he constantly makes plays for the Titans offense. Obviously, thoughts should be with Jonnu Smith who suffered a leg injury during the game and was unable to return. He had been turning a corner and now is a tough time to lose a dynamic offensive playmaker.

However, Firkser has been making contributions for several weeks now and could see his role growing moving forward, especially if Smith is out for a while. Firkser is still yet to even have an incomplete pass on a ball thrown his way this season.

Titans Fans

If last week’s Titans game at Nissan Stadium was a drama, this one was a comedy. Home fans who turned out got to see a franchise record be broken and the team extend its winning streak to four games over the hated Jaguars. The Titans are now 15-3 at home over the past 18 games. They also kept their playoff hopes alive and we can now spend the weekend rooting for the Patriots to beat the Dolphins, the Chiefs to beat the Ravens, and 49ers to beat the Broncos.

Losers

A.J. Bouye, Leon Jacobs, and Myles Jack

AKA the guys who got caught in Derrick Henry’s brutal hurricane of stiff arms during his 99-yard run.

For flopping like a soccer player when Taylor Lewan got in his face.
