The Titans’ playoff hopes and season ended on Sunday night after being thoroughly dominated by the Colts. The defense played better in the 2nd half, but if you pay Blaine Gabbert to play QB for your team, this is the type of result you deserve.
The 2018 season had some real winners: Jayon Brown, Harold Landry, and Rashaan Evans all look like future stars in our front 7. Corey Davis was very good when utilized, Derrick Henry was tremendous. Dennis Kelly stepped in and played very well. Kevin Byard, Logan Ryan, Kenny Vaccaro, all had excellent seasons, and should be back for 2019. Adoree Jackson improved and was a very good corner for most of the year. Jurrell Casey was awesome per usual. Darius Jennings and the special teams units were also incredible.
There are also things to improve in 2019: Blaine Gabbert is awful and needs to be replaced by someone capable, especially with the inability of Marcus to stay healthy (do not even say anything about him not playing last night, it’s not even a question that he should NOT have played). The pass rush was terrible and needs to be improved both at the OLB position and DL. WR depth was not good enough after Corey Davis, the offense needs more weapons around the QB. The interior OL is a real mess and at least two of the existing members need to be replaced.
Overall this team won games it shouldn’t have and lost games it shouldn’t have. In the end, it was a good season from Mike Vrabel, especially when you consider all the injuries he endured. That being said, it’s going to require a very good offseason for the Titans to catch and surpass the Texans and Colts.
