Marcus Mariota did 2 different interviews today in which he talked about his injury and his status for Sunday. The first interview was on the Wake Up Zone on 104.5 The Zone here in Nashville. You can hear it here.
That was the interview that prompted Ian Rapoport to say that Marcus Mariota was trending in the wrong direction:
From Up to the Minute Live: #Titans QB Marcus Mariota didn't practice today after disclosing his entire right side has been numb. This appears to be heading in the wrong direction. pic.twitter.com/l3ZAuYige8— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 26, 2018
That seems to be a giant leap that Rapoport made there. Marcus does say that his whole right side went numb when the injury happened, but that has nothing to do with what is going on today. In fact, that sounds more like a stinger than the ulnar nerve injury that he suffered in week 1 at Miami. That may or may not mean something, but Rapoport doesn’t know anything more than you or me at this point.
The second interview Mariota gave was his weekly Wednesday press conference:
He doesn’t give anything there to let us know one way or another.
This will be the last time we hear from Mariota this week so the only thing we are going to have left to go off is practice reports. For what it’s worth, Marcus didn’t practice today. He did practice in a limited capacity after the injury in Indianapolis.
