Tajae Sharpe and Taywan Taylor both held out of practice and other Titans-Patriots injury notes

The Titans wide receiver depth may be tested on Sunday.

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Titans were missing two of their top three receivers during Thursday’s practice as both Tajae Sharpe (ankle) and Taywan Taylor (foot) were listed as DNP’s (Did Not Practice) on the injury report. Sharpe was listed as limited on Wednesday, so this qualifies as a downgrade for him. It’s worth noting that the Titans described Wednesday’s practice as “lighter” than a usual Wednesday so I don’t know that this signifies a setback. It could just be that Sharpe was able to handle a lighter practice, but not ready for full speed drills today.

Taylor did not practice for a second straight day, but reports said he was out of the walking boot he was sporting on Wednesday so that’s a positive development. If either Taylor or Sharpe can’t go on Sunday, look for the Titans to promote either Roger Lewis or Devin Ross from the practice squad to boost the numbers at receiver. It’s a pretty safe bet that we’re going to see a lot of snaps for Cameron Batson on Sunday at this point though.

Did Not Practice: Tajae Sharpe (ankle), Taywan Taylor (foot), Jack Conklin (concussion), Dane Cruikshank (knee)

Limited: Bennie Logan (knee), Derrick Morgan (shoulder)

Full Practice: Will Compton (hamstring), Daren Bates (illness)

Conklin and Cruikshank remained out of the mix on Thursday. Both guys seem to be trending towards missing Sunday’s game.

Derrick Morgan was limited for a second straight day. If he returns to full practice on Friday I would feel pretty good about him playing.

Bennie Logan was added to the injury report today with a knee. That’s a new injury for him, but there is no word on the potential severity of this issue. He will be another guy to watch on Friday’s report. If he can’t go, Darius Kilgo would be the guy to likely get extra reps in his absence.

Will Compton and Daren Bates were both full participants and seem likely to be available Sunday. The Titans should have their full complement of inside linebackers on hand for this one.

On the Patriots injury report remains unchanged from Wednesday. Sony Michel, Rob Gronkowski, and Shaq Mason all remain limited in practice for a second straight day. All three of those guys are considered questionable for Sunday as things stand right now. The most interesting note from New England’s report may be that starting left tackle Trent Brown has now missed two straight practices with an illness.
