For the second time all year, the Titans are favored to win by the oddsmakers. The Titans were favored against Buffalo early in the year, marking the only time that they’ve closed as favorites to win. The opening game against the Dolphins closed as a pick ‘em.
The Jets have dropped five games in a row after beating the Colts back in mid-October. Their last two games have been double-digit losses at home to the Patriots and Bills.
Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold is nursing a foot injury which has kept him out of the last two games. Head coach Todd Bowles wouldn’t commit to Darnold practicing this week as the Jets appear to be taking a cautious approach.
That likely means another start for Josh McCown, who has mustered just 10 and 13 points in his two starts. He’s thrown for 411 yards and tossed three picks in that span. Finally, the Titans will face an offense that doesn’t rank among the league’s best.
It’s been a tough stretch for the Titans. The defense has been tested over the last month, facing the Chargers, Colts, Texans and Patriots. Seeing the Jets on the schedule has to be a welcomed sight for Dean Pees.
The oddsmakers out in Vegas placed the Titans as massive 10.5 point favorites for Sunday afternoon’s game against the Jets. That number quickly came down to 7.5. The total is set at just 40.5.
The same rule applies here — bet on or against the Titans at your own risk. They’ve been one of the most unpredictable teams in the NFL this season. Which Titans team shows up on Sunday?
