The Titans have added tight end Anthony Firkser back on to the 53-man roster and waived running back Dalyn Dawkins in a corresponding move.

Firkser was one of the pleasant surprises of camp for the Titans and led the team in catches during the preseason, notching 10 grabs for 103 yards and a touchdown. He made the initial 53-man roster, but was subsequently waived in favor of another backup tight end in MyCole Pruitt.
The Titans will now carry 4 tight ends on the roster and given the performance of Jonnu Smith in recent weeks, it’s not impossible to imagine a scenario where Firkser — who is far more pass catcher than blocker — gets a chance to get on the field. Tennessee certainly can’t get less production from their tight ends in the passing game than they are right now.
Dawkins had been on the roster to serve as the 3rd running back while David Fluellen was on the mend, but now that he’s back, Dawkins was no longer necessary. The team will likely try to bring him back on the practice squad.
