Report: Titans Hire Two More Assistant Coaches

The Titans have reportedly found their Quarterbacks Coach and Outside Linebackers Coach

NFL: AUG 24 Saints Training Camp

Well-respected Houston Chronicle reporter John McClain is reporting that the Titans have poached two positional coaches from division rival Houston Texans.*

Pat O’Hara will reportedly be the Titans’ Quarterbacks Coach, and Shane Bowen the Outside Linebackers Coach.

O’Hara comes highly regarded by colleagues and media alike.

The Bears were reportedly among the other teams interested in O’Hara for the QB Coach position.

After playing quarterback in the NFL and the Arena Football League, O’Hara spent many years in the AFL as the Head Coach of three different teams. He joined the Texans staff in 2015 as an offensive assistant and helped coach quarterback DeShaun Watson in 2017.

And some interesting facts about O’Hara from his Wikipedia page...

O’Hara’s previous off-seasons have included consulting work, coordinating and choreographing football action scenes in movies. He also has coached actors such as Adam Sandler, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson to better help them portray their characters. In addition, O’Hara has appeared in several movies including The Waterboy, Any Given Sunday, and The Game Plan.

Bowen was a graduate assistant at Ohio State when Vrabel was the defensive line coach. He has spent the past two seasons with the Texans as a defensive assistant.

That makes three total positional coaches hired by Mike Vrabel so far, all before the hiring of offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator.

There’s not much out there about Shane Bowen. He’s a very young coach who Mike Vrabel presumably knows very well. Pat O’Hara and Kerry Coombs appear thus far to be A+ hires for the organization.

Nothing official has been announced by the team yet.
