Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports is reporting that Kerry Coombs is leaving Ohio State to join Mike Vrabel’s staff with the Tennessee Titans. Thamel did not say what position Coombs will have on the Titans staff. He was the Assistant Coordinator, Defense/Cornerbacks/Special Teams coordinator (whatever all of that means) according to the Ohio State website. You can follow Coombs on Twitter here.

Coombs has coached some really good defensive backs in his time at Ohio State including Marshon Lattimore, Gareon Conley and Eli Apple. All three of those guys were first round picks in the NFL Draft.

So if this report is true, we have the first member of the Titans staff. Coombs apparently had a big hand in the special teams at Ohio State. Could he be the special teams coordinator here? It is possible.

Stay tuned. We will update the story with the position that Coombs will occupy on the staff here as soon as it is reported.
