So new Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has reportedly missed on his first two attempts to hire a coordinator. Ryan Day chose to stay at Ohio State, where he received a promotion and will now call the plays. Now, James Bettcher has chosen to take the Giants defensive coordinator position over the Titans, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
The #Giants are making James Bettcher their new defensive coordinator, source says. He chose them over the #Titans.

Bettcher had previously served as the defensive coordinator under Bruce Arians in Arizona. Both the Titans and the Giants met with Bettcher in Mobile on Tuesday at the Senior Bowl.
This was the only legitimate name we had heard for the position to this point. Darren Perry’s name was floated, but he seems like more of a positional assistant at this point.
It’s really tough to throw out any other names at this point, simply because Vrabel hasn’t been coaching for very long. Stay tuned, though. The entire NFL world is at the Senior Bowl right now, so there’s no telling what names we’ll hear in the coming days.
