Last night, the Titans surprisingly shut down their search for a new head coach, choosing Mike Vrabel to lead the franchise. The hire was made just five days after they parted ways with Mike Mularkey.
This morning, Adam Schefter is reporting that the Titans are giving Vrabel a five year contract.

That’s pretty standard stuff for most new hires. The Titans reportedly gave Mularkey just three years when they retained him in 2016, which created the extension talks we heard about last weekend.
A five year deal gives Vrabel the security needed to go hire top assistant coaches. Who he hires to run his offense is the million dollar question right now. I’ll be interested to see if he swings for the fences here with a DeFilippo or LaFleur. Jim Bob Cooter could also come available.
Vrabel will be introduced to the media on Monday. We’ll have full coverage of that tomorrow.
