The Titans conducted three interviews after firing Mike Mularkey following his loss in the playoffs to the Patriots. Vrabel was the first guy that they talked to. He clearly made an impression on the organization.
It’s pretty surprising to see them come to a decision so quickly. I thought for sure that they would want to talk to someone from the Eagles or Patriots staffs.
Vrabel spent 2017 serving as the defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans. He worked his way up the coaching ladder after a stop at Ohio State, taking a linebackers coach position with the Texans in 2014.
Now, he’s the next head coach of the Tennessee Titans. That’s a pretty rapid rise.
The big question from here is who will run the offense? This hire has to maximize Marcus Mariota, putting all kinds of pressure on Vrabel and Jon Robinson to hire the right guy to lead the offense.
We’ll have plenty of time to talk about that in the coming days. What do you guys think of the hire? Let us know below.
