The Titans can win in Kansas City

Do you believe?

The narrative is already out there that the Titans don’t have a chance to win in Kansas City on Saturday. Last week we had national writers basically calling Titans’ fans stupid for wanting their team to win when they are just going to get blasted in the wild card round of the playoffs BECAUSE A LOSS TO THE JAGUARS WOULD HAVE MEANT A COACHING CHANGE!!!11 In fact, I got blocked by Chris Wessling on Twitter for calling this tweet lazy (which it absolutely is). I still don’t believe that Mike Mularkey would have been fired if the Titans loss the game, but if that were true, what is to keep him from getting fired if they do get blown out in Kansas City? But that’s an entirely different kind of flying altogether...

Here’s the thing though, the Titans can beat the Chiefs. Don’t believe me? Let’s talk about some numbers. Kansas City has really struggled on defense this year. They are 32nd DVOA against the run this year. 32nd. Do you know what the Titans are bound and determined to do? Yep, that’s right, run the football.

The Chiefs defense has also struggled against the pass, ranking 23rd in DVOA. Their biggest issue there has been against #1 WRs where they rank 31st in DVOA. This sets up as a nice spot for Rishard Matthews.

Look, I’m not saying the Titans will absolutely win this game, but I am saying their is a scenario where they are able to go in there and control the clock with run game. That makes for an ugly game. We know the Titans are comfortable in those. It would also keep the Chiefs explosive offense on the sideline.

There is no doubt this will be a tough test, but let’s not count the Titans out just yet.
