We need Jon Robinson to save us from Mike Mularkey

NFL: Chicago Bears at Tennessee Titans Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Dear Jon,

First off, thank you so much for the work you have done on the Titans roster. In just two years you have turned this roster from the worst in the league to one that has enough talent to be a competitive team. That was no small feat.

But now we need you to do something else for us. See, the talent you have assembled, especially on offense around Marcus Mariota, is being wasted. The current coaching staff is out of touch with what it takes to have a successful offense in today’s NFL.

I was hoping that Mike Mularkey, the coach you inherited, was smart enough to realize this, but then this happened today:

Mularkey is too stubborn to admit that his style isn’t going to work. We need you to go to Amy Adams-Strunk and convince her that it is time to move on from Mike Mularkey.

You are the only one that has the pull to do that. You came through New England. You know what it takes to develop a successful franchise. It takes the ability to adapt to things on the fly- week by week and series by series. This staff is either unwilling or unable to do that, and the Titans won’t win a Super Bowl until you have a staff that does.

I understand that Mularkey has done an important job in developing a winning culture in this locker room. I understand that he led the team to their first playoff win in over a decade, but you know as well as I do that it will never get easier than it was this season. Next year the Texans are going to have Deshaun Watson back, the Colts might have Andrew Luck back, and the Jaguars will be coming off, at worst, an AFC Championship Game appearance. There is no way this staff goes 5-1 against those teams next year.

If no changes are made, the Titans will miss the playoffs next year. Mularkey will be fired then, and that will be another year of Marcus Mariota’s prime wasted. Why wait?

So we as Titans’ fans beg you to go to AAS and convince her that it is time to move on. There is nothing to be gained by wasting another year. We trust that you can go out and find the right guy to develop an offense that plays to Mariota’s strengths and can take this team to the next level.

Thanks again for everything you have done to help field a competitive team. We are so close to being able to compete against the best of the best.
