Titans sign Brian Schwenke; release Tim Lelito

The Titans brought back a familiar face.

Brian Schwenke is back with the Titans. After signing with the Colts this offseason, the center/guard struggled with a foot injury (imagine that) throughout training camp and ended up getting released when they trimmed down to 53 this weekend.

To make room for Schwenke, the Titans released Tim Lelito. The team was reportedly interested in bringing Schwenke back during free agency but the Colts managed to snag him probably for more money or opportunity.

Schwenke will be in Tennessee for the 5th consecutive season now after being drafted by Titans in the 4th round of the 2013 NFL Draft. His release from Indianapolis was a bit of a surprise as he was expected to start in place of the injured Ryan Kelly at center. The Colts will now likely go with undrafted rookie Deyshawn Bond while they wait for Kelly to return.

Can’t hurt for the Titans to bring in a guy who spent all of camp behind enemy lines as they attempt to finally take the Colts down. Schwenke will slot in as the first interior lineman off the bench this season.
